My Poppet of Ursey

My mother made the first hand made little Indian poppet with my son in the late 1980's, but I was given a little doll in 1962 or 63 which I had until is came up missing in my KKK family.  (My ex is KKK- I didn't know it)
Ursey gave me the first  poppet of my life.  She was my adoptive mom's helper.  Mom had heart disease and had had surgery when I was little.  Ursey was African American.   The poppet was wooden with  painted features.  She had dangley legs and arm, fastened with hardware.  The doll was of Ursey, she gave it to me so that I would not forget her and possibly for protection.  The doll was wearing  a blue patterned dress and was about 8 or nine inches long. She had a lace inset neckline.  I would still have it except for those magic KKK dragons being afraid of her power.

Ursey would hold me, I distinctly recall resting against her large breasts.  Ursey taught me love.  I guess I should make a new poppet of her!!!
